Black tribal carved Damchiya cabinet with drawer. The damchiya ( a dowry or hope chest,) is a testament to the traditions of days past. Each were individually commissioned and built with such love and detail; then filled with clothes and linens in anticipation of married life. This particular one was collected in Rajasthan where this level of fine carving and detail is more prevalent. Amazing care and craftsmanship! With secret compartment inside.
